ABOUT
Hi there! I’m Amy Hempel, and I am excited to be part of your child’s learning journey this year.
My love for teaching began a few years ago when I was asked to assist in a classroom, which quickly grew into a full-time teaching role. Since then, I have discovered a passion for helping students grow, not only academically but also as individuals.
I am passionate about reading and all things creative.
I believe every lesson should have meaning beyond the classroom, and I enjoy helping students connect what they learn to the world around them.
I look forward to encouraging, challenging, and supporting your child as they discover their strengths and reach their potential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I am a creative educator and designer with hands-on experience teaching and supporting high school learners. My teaching experience has allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds and learning needs, adapting my approach to help each learner succeed.
Alongside my teaching experience, I hold Reading, Scribe, and Prompter certifications, which have strengthened my ability to support students in diverse learning environments.
I am passionate about student development, creative expression, and creating engaging learning experiences.
My greatest professional achievement is knowing that I have made a positive impact on my students and seeing them grow into confident, successful individuals.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My teaching approach is centred on confidence, growth, and meaningful learning. I believe education is about much more than academic achievement—it is about helping students develop the skills, resilience, and self-belief they need to thrive in life.
I value clear communication, mutual respect, and strong partnerships between educators, parents, and students. I see myself as part of a larger support team, working alongside families and the school to help each learner flourish.
Every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and loved, and I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and grow.
As a creative thinker, I enjoy finding unique ways to present concepts and challenge students to think beyond the obvious.
FUN FACT
– Outside of teaching, I run my own Graphic Design, Photography, and Baking businesses.
– I am a proud mom to one daughter and three beloved fur-babies.
– I have never lost a game of Monopoly (and no, there was definitely no cheating involved!).
– I love reading and am always looking for my next great book.
